poster final draft

This is the final draft of my Poster, I have made changes in order to fit the conventions of a horror poster. I changed the font to steel tongs as through research I had found that this was the typical font used for the small print on a movie poster. I feel that my main image has been successful edited and I have included what is necessary.

Website final draft

The link above will take you to my website final draft, I feel I have adhered to the typical conventions of a movie website, yet I found it hard to emulate my fonts and colour schemes due to wix having set fonts and colours. Despite this I find my final outcome very successful.

Film trailer final draft

This is my Film trailer final draft, I have made improvements according to the feedback given to me, which will hopefully improve it in a professional manner. Overall I have found this process extremely difficult but I think I have stuck to the conventions of the horror genre successfully while also subverting some of the viewers expectations.

website first draft

Website homepage: First draft

This print screen shows the progress i have made on my website homepage, I have decided to also add a directors note to complete it. I have looked at other websites which inspired me to add critics quotes in order to persuade people who visit the website that it is a must see film. So far I think this is a successful website as it meets criteria. I have also created a website homepage for a phone/tablet this will be great for my target audience.

Progress: comparison

Since I have taken new photographs and made a film poster, I thought i would apply this to my website in order for it to fit conventions of a traditional horror movie website. I have also edited my layout to improve the overall look. I have also added another page called cast and crew which will include my 'getting to know the cast' video alongside extra information and a note from the director. This is similar to the exorcist film website which features this element and inspired me to include it myself.

This website includes Cast Bios which I am considering adding to my website.

Creating my Film poster

I have taken photos using a cannon camera this ensures for good quality, I then transferred my chosen picture onto Photoshop and edited it adding my film title. I think I have made progress that fits the typical horror poster conventions however I still need to add the cast and directors names and critics quotes in order to fit my original flat plan. So far I am happy with the progress I have made but will continue to improve in order for it to reach a higher standard of quality.

Reflection on lesson

This screen shot shows I have exported my trailer and put it on youtube. This allows me to embed in on my blog and gain feedback for improvements.

I have published my trailer on my website. Although I have not taken photographs for my website yet I have placed an exsisting one in the correct place in order to get a layout I am ultimately happy with.

Trailer first draft

This is the first draft of my horror movie trailer. I will collect feedback and improve accordingly to allow for a better quality trailer.

Feedback from lecturer
I was told to improve by possibly adding in sound effects which match the action of my clip and relate to the horror genre. On the scene of the young girl being snatched, I was advised to try a scream sound effect in order to add to the thrilling action. This feedback has influenced by creative process and allowed me to improve.

To do list for today

Complete my homepage for my website task to allow me to move onto other sections which will give me enough time to reach my deadlines. On my about page I need to complete my plot and design of the page.

Billing Block planning

Due to my lack of pre-existing knowledge of film poster conventions, I decided to look at existing horror movie posters in order to get an idea when creating my own product. One feature in particular is the billing blocks therefore I have looked at some in order to get an idea what they should look like and what should be written in one.

Billing blocks feature at the bottom of all film posters, it is here the directors, producers and writers are credited. These blocks are featured in small print in the bottom third, this allows credit to be given without attention taken away from the main image (which is usually the main selling point). I have researched into fonts also and the font steeltongs is used predominantly to give this stacked effect.

Progression Aims

By the end of this lesson I intend to start my website on Wix.com this will allow pre-set layouts but also allows me to cutomize to the conventional horror film website.

Today I have made progress in beginning my website task. This will be the homepage in which I have tested my main image and added my logo, film title and film slogan. There is still progress to be made as I need to complete the other pages and add my overall film trailer to make it conventional and professional. I am happy with the color scheme but improvements will be made. Overall i have met my aims for today.

Sound for my product final choices

This Prezi shows my final choices of sound for my film trailer before improvements. I am quite happy with my sound editing as it creates tension fitting with the traditional horror trailer.
